Junk (also called Dots) is a popular side game where players earn points for feats like birdies, pars, sand saves, and greenies. ReadiGolf tracks junk points live during your round and settles up within the foursome.
What Is Junk Tracking?
Junk points are optional side bets awarded hole-by-hole. Common types include:
- Birdie – Make a birdie
- Par – Make a par
- Sand Save – Get up and down from a greenside bunker
- Greenie – Closest to the pin on a par 3 (or first on the green)
- Bingo Bango Bongo – First on the green (Bingo), closest to the pin (Bango), first in the hole (Bongo)
Enabling Junk for a Play Date
Junk tracking is tied to a Play Date challenge. Create or edit a Play Date and add a “Junk/Dots” challenge. Configure which junk types are enabled and set point values and payout per point (e.g., 1 point = $1).
During the Round
When you’re on the scorecard, tap the Junk button to open the Junk sheet. For each hole, tap to award points to players (birdie, sand save, etc.). The app tallies hole totals and round totals automatically. Junk is settled within the foursome only—it doesn’t flow into the main Money Winners report.
Hole-by-Hole Summary
Use the hole-by-hole summary to review who earned what on each hole. Handy for resolving disputes and for a quick recap at the 19th hole.
Tips
- Agree on junk types and payouts before the round
- Enter junk points as soon as they happen to avoid forgetting
- Customize which junk types apply to par 3s vs. par 4s/5s (e.g., greenies only on par 3s)
